BIO

Kri Agnez, born in 1981 in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a contemporary POP Art artist, residing and working in London, United Kingdom. Agnez is trained in academic oil painting, drawing and humanities subjects, having received a higher education in Kaunas Art Gymnasium and having graduated BA in Painting at Vilnius Art Academy, both Lithuania. As a result, she has been seeking to break out of Academic learning restraints, and to focus attention on nurturing imagination.

Her oeuvre is marked by fictional visual language and a strong story-telling foundation. Agnez is best known for her colourful fairy-tale-like portraits framed in circles, examining the representation of women through contremporary and feminist view. Reaccuring concepts throughout her work are a history of matriarchat, reversed gaze, emotional amplitude, and Apocalypse.
